Tunker the Skunk Visits the Library

There have been a lot of tracks in the library this summer! Tunker the skunk visited with a unique group of friends that live on the family farm of Jon and Michelle Mears. The "Ugly Duckling" that looked like it might be a young goose was the first to make it's appearance. The furry friends joining Tunker on Wednesday were Brutus the giant Flemish rabbit, a long haired guinea pig, a sweet young fox, Pot-belly pig named Petunia and Nascar the ferret. The not so furry friends included Shelly the young tortoise, Smiley the alligator, Lucky the Bearded Dragon, a large monitor lizard, and a chicken with no feathers on it's neck called a Turken.

We learned about these animals and talked about the time and responsibility for their care. It takes at least two hours a day to clean all their cages and feed them properly. This is in addition to the general love and attention they need to get along on the farm together.

Thank you Jon and Michelle for your visit to the library!
