It’s raining, it’s pouring, and the flowers are soaring!

Today at the Library, we learned all about spring flowers and what they need to grow. We had some busy bees, butterflies, and birds pollinating flowers around the Library, which is a very important job.

We read some books, sang a song, and did a craft—what a great way to spend a rainy day!

Z-Green Fest 2010 was a Blast!

The Library celebrated Earth Day at the 4th Annual Z-Green Fest this past weekend, and what a beautiful day it turned out to be! The “Island Breezes” blew away the crowd with live music; there were interactive activities for the kids and educational booths for both children and adults.

Lots of Party Animals showed up! A bard owl, a skunk, a raptor, turtles, frogs, snakes—all kinds of animals visited with families and friends at the Z-Green Fest.

The Librarian’s Woodland Fairy also made an appearance to help children make fairy houses; we made quite a village for the fairies to visit! If you are interested in making fairy houses again, check out the Library's summer schedule, we have a program scheduled for July 8!

The Z-Green Fest was environmentally uplifting—I can’t wait until next year! Until then, can you tell us some simple steps you and your family take to reduce your carbon footprint?

What’s Up at the Library?

New checkout system!

If you haven’t been in lately, our new checkout is a much-needed improvement and features state-of-the-art touch screens and a smarter interface to communicate with customers. The self-checks might look ominous, but they are easy to use and the librarians are always on hand to teach you the ins and outs of checking out materials. Come in and check it out (pun very much intended!)!

Missing a coat?

Warmer temps are a welcome change, but consequently the jackets we wear when we leave the house don’t always make it home with us at the end of the day. In other words, the library has a supply of coats and jackets here that were left behind. If your child is missing some outer wear, check out our coat rack!

Cheep, cheep, cheep!

The CHICKS ARE COMING! Eggs should arrive May 3 with subsequent hatching to begin immediately. Come in person during library hours for an eye-witness account or watch on our webcam 24/7 through the website for remote at-home viewing.
